More than a sport, a passion driving José Campo Grand

Jose Campo Grande, as he is known in the tennis circuit, is a natural-born athlete. He always views competition as a motivational aspect. On his own initiative, he started playing tennis at the age of 4, with no family members practicing this sport. He is a left-handed tennis player.

He began competing in tournaments organized by the São Paulo Tennis Federation, and at the age of 7, he won his first trophy. In the years 2019, 2020, and 2021, he consistently ranked among the Top 8 in the FPT, even participating in the Master stages of the category (best of the year). He has also been standing out in the national circuit, achieving excellent results in tournaments organized by the Brazilian Tennis Confederation (CBT). He finished the year 2023 among the top 10 players in the country in the national ranking for the 12-year-old category, representing the state of São Paulo in one of the circuit's most important competitions, the Federation Cup, and winning the championship in this category. Also, at the end of 2023, he made his debut in the South American circuit (COSAT), playing in the older age group of 14 years and also winning the Doubles title. This is a significant achievement, as it opens up international South American rankings for athletes aspiring to turn professional.

Currently, as an athlete of the high-performance team of Rede Tênis Brasil - RTB, a project that has tennis player Bia Haddad Maia as its ambassador, José has a very intense training routine with a multidisciplinary team: technical coach, physical trainer, nutritionist, physiotherapist, and sports psychologist. During certain times of the year, especially those related to the pre-season, José participates in meetings and training sessions at renowned academies, under the supervision of former tennis players and coaches such as Hugo Daibert, Bruno Soares, Thomas Bellucci, Leandro Afini, Ludgero Braga (specialist in sports biomechanics), Fernando Meligeni, and Carlos Omaki (in this case, due to José's association with Clube Athletico Paulistano).

Another significant aspect of José's development is his international experiences. In February 2019, he participated in the kids' event/ATP250 in New York. In November 2021, he took part in a European tournament (TenPro) at the Rafael Nadal Academy in Spain. And, more recently, in January 2023, he trained at two academies in Italy (Turin and Verona), seeking to exchange experiences and gain new insights at one of the schools that has shown remarkable technical growth in the international tennis scene.
